Get Your COI Approved

AKJA's cinema gear (ARRI ALEXA 35, Signature Primes, SkyPanel S360-C, Music Video Lighting Kit) requires a Certificate of Insurance before pickup. This page walks you through getting one, what it must include, and how to submit it.

Renting other gear (Mavic 3 Pro, RS 3 Pro, LiteMat, SUMOMAX, Sony A7 IV, GoPro)? No COI needed — a credit card hold and signed waiver at pickup is sufficient.

How to Get a COI

Call your business or production insurance broker.
If you don't have one: most commercial insurance carriers offer short-term inland marine / equipment floater policies. Common options include Athos, On Production, Allen Insurance, or Front Row Insurance. Production company policies typically already include this coverage — your producer or production coordinator can issue a COI.
Request a Certificate of Insurance (COI).
Tell your broker the coverage type is "Inland Marine / Equipment Floater" or "Rented Equipment Liability." Most brokers issue COIs same-day or within one business day.
Specify $1,000,000 minimum coverage.
This is the minimum per-occurrence limit AKJA accepts on any single rental. For multi-item rentals exceeding $1M total replacement value (rare), we may request additional coverage — we'll let you know.
Name AKJA LLC as additional insured.
This is critical. The COI must list AKJA LLC by name in the "Additional Insured" or "Certificate Holder" section, using the exact business info on the right. If your broker asks for the legal entity language, share the AKJA Information card below.
Email the completed COI to us.
Use the Submit Your COI button below. We review within 4 business hours during weekdays and confirm approval by email. Gear is reserved on your booking date once your COI is approved.

Coverage dates that include your rental pickup and return dates (with a buffer day on each side recommended)
Equipment description — either "all rented production equipment" or specific gear list (we'll provide the gear list on request)
Your name + production company name as the named insured
Insurer name + agent contact info so we can verify if needed

How long does COI approval take?

Typically 4 business hours during weekdays after we receive your COI. We'll confirm by email and lock in your reservation date.

What if my production company's policy already exists?

Even better — just ask your producer or coordinator to add AKJA LLC as additional insured for the rental dates and email us the certificate. Most policies allow this with no additional premium.

Can I get a short-term policy just for this rental?

Yes — Front Row Insurance and Athos both offer per-production policies starting around $250-500 depending on coverage and duration. Production-friendly carriers will typically process the COI same-day.

What happens if my COI doesn't meet the requirements?

We'll email you what's missing. Most issues are name spelling, missing "Additional Insured" designation, or coverage limits below $1M. Your broker can re-issue or amend the certificate same-day.

Does the COI requirement apply if I'm only renting Tier 2 gear?

No. Tier 2 rentals (Mavic 3 Pro, RS 3 Pro, LiteMat, SUMOMAX, Sony A7 IV, GoPro, Astera NYX) use a credit card hold and signed liability waiver instead — no COI needed.

What if my insurance doesn't allow Additional Insured endorsements?

Rare, but contact us — we can review whether a Waiver of Subrogation or alternative arrangement is acceptable for your specific rental.
